Online video market gets tougher,Veoh blocked some useless countries

Online video sharing is one of the major attributes of the web 2.0 and most of the video sharing sites based on user generated content are doing fine. Some of them like youtube are going great. But now the competition is getting tougher and more tougher.Small players are feeling the heat are they are restructuring themselves.

And the latest news is that Veoh, has blocked many (all but 33 ) countries across the globe which were less important to it in financial and marketing terms but they were consuming the precious bandwidth.

Veoh’s Gaude Paez told press, “The markets we are exiting collectively represent less than 10 percent of our viewer base.” She maintained that the decision was “not about saving resources but rather re-focusing those resources.” Paez was not able to immediately provide the list of countries where Veoh is still available.

She further said "Competition is high in the video space and we want to make sure we’re differentiating ourselves in terms of products and ad platforms to monetize. As a startup we just have to make choices."

You can see the list of blocked countries here at wikipedia.
