How to use common sense while answering the question in exam

So many times we have heard the stories about the student's totally different perspective of answering questions in class or exam.Sometimes their perspective is highly logical and they put a another right answer that examiner was not even thinking about but sometimes they just use the loopholes in the question and put a different perspective of the question such that we can't control our laugh.
