Japanese punished for 780,000 visits on porn sites

A Japanese official was demoted after it was discovered that he had logged 780,000 hits on porn sites from his office computer over nine months.

The unnamed man, a Kinokawa city government employee in western Japan, was, ahem, surfing madly from June 2007 to February 2008. Despite the frequency of his visits, none of his co-workers noticed anything untoward as, city official Tomiko Waki noted, "Each desk is set apart from each other."

What clued his bosses into the problem? Increased network traffic? Bills on city credit cards? Nope, it was a virus picked up along the way. Along with the demotion, he received a $190 monthly pay cut, Waki said.

Lesson to be learned: if you're going to do this, make sure your antivirus software is up-to-date, work PC or no work PC. Oh, and Kinokawa probably ought to install filtering software on his PC.
