For better speed try windows vista service pack 1

When Microsoft launched windows vista it was supposed to be a big success but rather than creating landmarks it even remains unable to touch to sale records of windows xp , the previous version of windows. It was a great setback for Microsoft. They do every thing they can do to promote vista, they even announced the closure of windows xp from early 2008 but later they had to extend its date.

What was major reason of failure of Microsoft's windows vista? I would suggest it should be speed as normal users developed a negative approach towards this operating system by getting negative reviews about the slower speed of vista even on high configuration systems.

So now it seems that Microsoft's has got the right nerve and it can be felt by working on windows vista service pack 1.Here are some of the noticeable changes I found in my system after installing Windows Vista SP1 RC :

1. Start-up and shutdown of Vista is now much quicker. My laptop is now shutting down in less than half the time it earlier used.
2. Checking for Windows updates now takes 1/4th the time it earlier used to take.
3. Time taken for moving or copying files across partitions has decreased.
4. Extracting and creating zip files is faster now.
5. On an overall basis, Windows Vista is more responsive now.

These are just some of the improvements I have noticed. You can find a more complete list of what is included in Service Pack1 here. Now Microsoft would be hoping for a boost in sale of vista.
