More than half of known Vista bugs are still unpatched

Microsoft's security executive Jeff Jones has disclosed that after the release of Vista this year company has patched 12 bugs out of 27 bugs reported in the first six month of its release means that company has patched fewer than half of the known bugs of Vista.

Jones added "Vista continues to show a trend of fewer total and fewer high-severity vulnerability at the six month mark compared to windows xp".

He was saying this because in the first six months of windows xp release number of bugs reported were 39 but he did not mention that out of 39 Microsoft patched 36.

So contrast is there in the ratio of patched to discovered bugs.Security has been one of the most important selling point of vista so Microsoft has to work hard to maintain the standard in terms of the security.

Google would answer hypothetical questions one day:Eric Schmidt

Google CEO Eric Schmidt said that one day Google would be able to answer hypothetical question like 'what shall i do tomorrow ? ' or 'which college should i go to ? ' .Seems fantastic but this is possible when people are ready opting the personalised search.

Google keeps personalised record of search for 18 months only after that it anonymises the search history of user 'for protecting the privacy of the user'.After 18 months searh engine has to relearn the pattern of your search.

Google currently offers an opt-in personalised search facility, which learns how and what users search for in order to improve the accuracy of results.Google says that for providing better search or targated results search has to keep the trends of your search and for that google wants to keep the user's history for a longer period for which it is going to let the user opt for that.

Only those users will be able to recieve enhanced service which has opted for keeping the records for longer time period.

The more a search engine can learn about a user's surfing habits, the better it can predict their intent.

With more web history data, Google could offer users a "hyper-personal" experience, with results based on potentially years' worth of pattern analysis of a user's search history.

Well i am waiting for that when google will start answering hypothetical questions.

Google defeats Microsoft over desktop search.

One more time Google has defeated Microsoft. This time the issue was related to the third party desktop search system in windows Vista.

Google complained to the US justice department over this issue in the April this year but officials initially ignored this issue but now officials found it the violation of the rules. As we all know microsoft has been fined for this type of work several times even by EU.

But this time, microsoft doesn't took more time and now Microsoft has agreed to change how Vista does its desktop search in response to that complaint by Google.Vista users will now be able to pick a default search program to comb through their hard drive files. Users can also display an alternative search program in Vista’s Start Menu.

So this is a good news for the google desktop search fans they will be able to use their favorite search but according to Google, the operating system’s integrated search creates a constant drag on other search programs – essentially both search programs are competing for the some hard drive.

Now microsoft officials said that changes are expected to be made in the first service pack of vista that will be launched later this year.
